Sometime people get confused between three names of this place the three popular names are Kashi, Varanasi and Banaras. Varanasi: Varanasi is the one and oldest name of this place. It officially called Varanasi. This name derived from two rivers first is Varuna River and second is Asi River. Varuna+Asi jointly makes the name Varanasi.

Banaras: The people who speak Bengali pronounce it as Banaras because in the Bengali alphabets there is no “V” alphabet. They use Varanasi and Baranasi/Banaras.
